  Nick created this picture entirely using the computer.   He used his Wacom graphics tablet with Fractal Design Painter to create a chalk and pastel on textured paper effect, and amazingly managed to capture the sense of light and shade just as well as he could do with real pastels on paper.  Charcoal and chalk was often a favourite of Nick's, and he created many striking pictures with this technique.

He did this picture on his new computer which he bought for himself just before starting at Anglia Polytechnic University in September 1999.
